Dr. Alexandra Machalani takes an integrative approach grounded in a primarily humanistic perspective. She places particular importance on the therapeutic relationship as a space for change, where she supports her clients with warmth, authenticity, compassion, and humour. She aims to provide a space where clients can reflect on their experiences, better understand what contributes to their difficulties, and identify what can be modified to foster lasting change. In couples therapy, she draws on Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT-C) to help partners better understand their relational cycle, cultivate greater curiosity and empathy toward each other’s experiences, and work together to build a more secure relationship.
Dr. Alexandra Machalani has been practicing psychotherapy since 2022 with adolescents, adults, and couples. She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) in 2025, where her research focused on men who perpetrate sexual aggression within intimate relationships. Throughout her training and clinical practice, she has developed experience working with people with diverse needs, including as a youth worker, where she gained exposure to issues affecting LGBTQ+ individuals, at CIUSSS Mauricie–Centre-du-Québec, where she worked with parent-child dyads, and through her internship in private practice. She also completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT-C) in 2026.
